Today’s a market day! I’m very excited. Exeter Market takes place every Thursday from 2:15 – 6:00, and all my favorites are there – Stout Oak Farm, Meadow’s Mirth, New Roots…. Live Free Farm will join them as the season gets going.
There’s always a pretty good turn out, so I get there early. This time of the season there isn’t a huge amount of produce, but what they do have is still rather impressive. Last week I ended up getting a lot of meat from Meadow’s Mirth and New Roots. Meadow’s Mirth also had some great potatoes and other root goodies that they’d kept in their root cellar.
Everyone had seedlings!!! I ended up taking home an awesome amount of herb seedlings that I know I’ll have trouble finding harvested throughout the year. Aspen Hill Herb Farm, whom I’ve added to my farm story ‘to-do list’, was awesome – they hooked me up with Thai Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, Purple Basil, and Nasturtiums. New Roots Farm had some really impressive seedlings that I snagged – Dill, Chocolate Mint, and Pineapple Mint.
I’ll post later on the Facebook page some of the great turn out at the market as far as food this week, but in the meantime check out the pictures I took of the repotted seedlings from last week. I can’t wait to finish moving and start building my herb garden more!
Also keep your eyes open for the newest recipe post coming up, and farm story shortly behind!
